The AXM-[ ] Series Motion and Attitude Sensing Units
The AXM-[] series of products are measurement system designed to measure stabilized pitch, roll and yaw angles in marine dynamic environments. The AXM-[] is a measurement system that combines linear accelerometers, rotational rate sensors, and magnetometers (only in some model). The AXM-[] uses the single/multi axis accelerometers and rate sensors to make a complete measurement of the dynamics of your system. The addition of a 3-axis magnetometer also allows the AXM-[] to make a true measurement of magnetic heading. Axitude AXM-[] units employ onboard digital processing to compensate for deterministic error sources within the unit and to compute attitude information. The AXM-[] uses angular rate sensors and linear acceleration sensors that are micro-machined devices. Solid-state MEMS sensors make the AXM-[] both responsive and reliable. The AXM-[] Series of products utilize a Kalman filter based algorithm, specialized for marine applications, to allow the unit to track orientation accurately through dynamic maneuvers. The Kalman filter will automatically adjust for changing dynamic conditions without any external user input. No user intervention or configuration is required at power-up. All AXM-[] products have an RS-232 serial link streamed continuously. The AXM-[] family product has been derived from avionics qualified AX1-[] attitude and heading reference system.
